Monday 25th June saw the second IST:DST Chemistry collaboration take place. This time, IST Chemists visited the German Lycée in Victor Hugo for a two hour practical session. Students worked in groups involving both schools to make a range of esters: pineapple, apple, banana, peppermint etc. to revise their important use in industry as flavourings, scents, solvents and surfactants. IST students said, “It was fun. It was nice to work with others and see the differences between our school and theirs. Everyone was really nice.” We hope to do more collaborations next year as it is a great opportunity for teamwork, communication and revision of common theory covered in both education systems.
